The fascinating Chained Library at Hereford Cathedral. In 1611, a security system was installed to prevent book theft. The books are chained to bars parallel with the shelf. This allows them to be taken from the shelf and read at the desk below but not removed from the bookcase. pic.twitter.com/ulaFVUcaN7
