A Gem in the Heart of Norway: Ålesund Library

A Library Planet post by Rosine Rigot Bingol

In the middle of the picturesque Scandinavian city of Ålesund in Norway is the largest public library in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Ålesund Bibliotek. Ålesund Bibliotek serves as a vital community resource for residents and visitors alike. The library is located on the second floor of the lower block by Ålesund Town Hall. It offers a vast array of events through its calendar.

The charming library offers an inviting corner for children. There is a wide collection of children’s books and every Wednesday the library offers storytelling time. Special events are also organized during children’s vacation time.

During my memorable visit to the Ålesund Bibliotek, I had the opportunity to indulge in the serene experience of observing majestic cruise boats while in the library. The library’s immense windows give you breathtaking views of the city’s bustling harbour. What an exceptional vista by which to explore the library’s hidden treasures!

For me, as an unstoppable hodophile and librarian, this unique experience made my day and added an extra dimension to my visit, allowing me to contemplate the enchanting maritime ambiance of Ålesund.

The Ålesund Library is at Kaiser Wilhelmsgt. 15, 6003 Ålesund, Norway.
